What's Happening?
Reventec has introduced the LSM500-38999, a capacitive liquid level sensor designed for defense-grade UAV fuel systems. This sensor is constructed from anodized aluminum and features a 5-bolt configuration
with an integrated MIL-DTL-38999 connector, ensuring secure installation in demanding airborne environments. It meets MIL-STD-461G and RTCA DO160F standards, providing stable readings in extreme conditions ranging from -40°C to +125°C, with optional extended operation to +150°C. The IP68-rated unit offers continuous solid-state sensing and supports analog (0–5 V), CAN, or combined outputs, eliminating the need for additional signal processing hardware. With an accuracy of ±1% or ±0.5% for higher-grade variants, it enables precise fuel management, supporting longer flight durations and improved system reliability. The sensor is custom-built to 700 mm and compatible with various aviation fuels, including JET-A, JP-4, and JP-8.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the LSM500-38999 sensor is significant for defense UAV operators seeking reliable fluid monitoring solutions. Its precision and durability enhance fuel management, which is crucial for extending flight durations and ensuring system reliability in military operations. The sensor's compatibility with a wide range of aviation fuels and its ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions make it a valuable asset for defense applications. This development reflects the ongoing innovation in unmanned systems technology, aiming to improve operational efficiency and safety in defense sectors.
