What's Happening?
Basketball England, in collaboration with the NBA and Manchester City Council, has announced the launch of the Manchester Coaches Program. This initiative aims to develop the next generation of basketball
coaches in Manchester, starting on November 30, 2025. The program targets aspiring coaches aged 16 and above, aiming to engage and train 100 community coaches who will reach thousands of young players across the city. The program follows the success of the London Coaches Program and coincides with the announcement of a regular-season NBA game in Manchester in 2027. The free 18-month program will feature two cohorts of 50 coaches, providing participants with tools, techniques, and strategies to enhance their player development philosophy.

The curriculum includes in-person and virtual training sessions, developed in consultation with NBA coaches. Aspiring coaches can register their interest to participate in the program, which aims to equip them with the skills necessary to teach the fundamentals and values of basketball to youth in Manchester.
