What's Happening?
Researchers at the University Hospital Bonn and the University of Bonn have developed a new model called Core2Edge to study glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. This model uses human tissue to capture the infiltration zones of the tumor, allowing
for the investigation of invasive fronts and the assessment of new drug candidates without animal testing. Glioblastoma is known for its invasive behavior, with tumor cells migrating into healthy brain tissue, making complete surgical removal challenging. The Core2Edge model combines glioblastoma organoids with human brain tissue, enabling researchers to track tumor spread and study the genetic activity of tumor cells.
