On India's 79th Independence Day, the Indian flag was hoisted atop Seattle's iconic Space Needle for the first time. The event was attended by Consul General of India in Seattle Prakash Gupta and Seattle Mayor
Bruce Harrell, among other dignitaries. The celebration included a cultural segment with national anthems, dance performances, and a poetic recital by artist Piyush Mishra. A community reception was held at Kerry Park, with the Indian flag visible on the Space Needle, attended by numerous Indian-American community members and US dignitaries.
