The Order of the Alhambra, an international Catholic organization, has contributed to the establishment of a sensory room at the new Donald Bollinger Education Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This initiative is part of the Order's broader mission
to support individuals with special needs and mental disabilities. Two local caravans, Galicia and Sancho, from the Warren and Harrison Township areas, also donated to the sensory room project. The Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) School Board recognized their contributions with a plaque. The Donald Bollinger Education Center is one of several MISD schools and programs that benefit from such support, which also include Lutz School for Work Experience, Neil E. Reid High School, and Glen H. Peters School. The idea for the sensory room originated from a discussion with the principal of the now-closed Keith Bovenschen school, which had a long-standing relationship with the Alhambra.
