Japanese air mobility company Soratobu Taxi, also known as SkyTaxi, has completed an investment in Plana US, a California-based developer of hybrid-electric eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing)
aircraft. The investment aims to enhance technical collaboration and expedite information sharing between the two companies, supporting Soratobu Taxi's plans to launch eVTOL operations across Japan. Soratobu Taxi, founded in Osaka and led by CEO Takuto Hojo, envisions making air travel as accessible as ground taxis. Plana is currently developing the CP-01, a hybrid-electric, medium-range eVTOL aircraft capable of carrying up to seven passengers, including a pilot, with a range exceeding 500 km. The aircraft is being developed in the United States under a 'Made in USA' designation as Plana seeks type certification. Soratobu Taxi had previously announced plans to purchase up to 50 Plana CP-01 aircraft by 2040, and this investment further strengthens their partnership.
