to the full town council for a vote. Mayor Will Haynie addressed concerns during a committee meeting, stating that "hyper-scale data centers are not going to be coming to Mount Pleasant." Residents, such as Penny Altmann, expressed a desire for a complete ban, citing concerns about energy and water usage, noise, and environmental impacts. The proposed moratorium aims to allow town staff to redefine future regulations for data centers. Mayor Haynie clarified that the moratorium is a proactive measure, as no developers have currently requested to build large-scale data centers east of the Cooper River.
