The Newport Harbor High girls' flag football team is preparing to host Edison in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. Newport Harbor, which shared the Sunset League title with Huntington Beach, has a strong record of 23-2 and
is 3-0 against Edison this season. The team is led by sophomore quarterback Scarlett Guyser, who has thrown for 3,371 yards and 42 touchdowns. Edison, with a record of 17-9, features junior Sadie Olivares, who has scored 13 passing, nine rushing, and eight receiving touchdowns. Other local teams in the playoffs include Huntington Beach, Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Estancia, and Los Amigos. Championship games for each division are scheduled for November 8 at El Modena High School.
