The eaglets of the famous bald eagle pair, Jackie and Shadow, residing in Big Bear Valley, California, have been named Sandy and Luna. The names were chosen through a public contest organized by the Friends of Big Bear Valley, with the final selection
made by third-grade students. The naming contest received over 3,000 submissions, and the names were selected randomly before being voted on by the students. The eaglets, previously referred to as Chick 1 and Chick 2, hatched in early April and have been observed via an eagle cam set up by the nonprofit organization.
