The Modern College of Design, a private, for-profit institution located in Kettering, has announced its closure due to persistent enrollment challenges and an inability to stabilize its operations. Despite efforts to improve operations and introduce new
programs, the college has decided that closing is the most responsible course of action. President Jessica Barry communicated this decision in a letter posted on the college's website. The Kettering campus will close its buildings immediately, with students and staff continuing coursework remotely. Students will be able to complete their externships until June 2 and will receive full academic credit. The college is also working on transfer agreements with other institutions to facilitate students' transitions. Commencement ceremonies scheduled for June 7 will be held virtually, and the college will cease all operations on June 23. Students enrolled for summer or fall classes will receive refunds. The institution, originally known as the School of Advertising Art until its rebranding in 2018, had expanded its facilities with new classrooms, a library, and a photography and video studio.
