What's Happening?
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, in collaboration with the Indiana National Guard, is set to unveil the nation's first ground-based Sled Track Facility at Camp Atterbury. This facility is designed to simulate high-speed flight environments
for military aircraft, providing a unique testing asset for airborne expendable countermeasures. The Sled Track will allow for cost-effective and safe testing of flares, enhancing the development and evaluation process. The facility features a 578-foot track capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 1, offering repeatable, high-force tests. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include a live demonstration, attended by Gov. Mike Braun and Congresswoman Erin Houchin.
