Johnson College has significantly revamped its continuing education department, now known as the Workforce Advancement & Value-Added Education (WAVE) program, to directly address regional workforce gaps. The college aims to equip individuals with in-demand
skills by offering career-focused training that can be completed online at any time. Ashley Bechaver, director of WAVE, stated that the programs have been updated and adapted to align with regional employment demands and address the specific needs of local employers. Since the institution of the online programming system on July 1, the college has observed substantial interest not only from its immediate area but also from across Pennsylvania. Johnson College currently provides 13 career-focused training courses, including electronic health records, medical billing and coding, professional bookkeeping with QuickBooks, and sales representative training. These programs are designed to help learners acquire practical skills and achieve industry-recognized certifications that are relevant to their professional goals.
