What's Happening?
Laxmiprasad Adhikari, a resident of Arun Rural Municipality-7 in Bhojpur, has returned from Malaysia after six years to pursue commercial agriculture. Adhikari has dedicated himself to fruit farming, cultivating a variety of fruits such as litchi, mango,
pomegranate, lemon, avocado, and rudraksha on 25 ropanis of land. He plans to expand his cultivation to an additional seven ropanis. Adhikari's initiative aims to leverage the skills and capital he acquired abroad to create a sustainable income source in his village. His efforts have sparked local interest in agriculture as a viable profession.
Why It's Important?
Adhikari's transition from overseas labor to local agriculture highlights a growing trend of utilizing international experience to boost domestic industries. His success could inspire others to invest in local agriculture, potentially revitalizing rural economies and reducing dependency on foreign employment. By focusing on sustainable practices, such as using goat manure for plant management, Adhikari is also promoting environmentally friendly farming techniques. This development could lead to increased employment opportunities and economic growth in the region, provided there is adequate support in terms of technology and market access.
What's Next?
Adhikari plans to further expand his farming operations, which could lead to more job creation in the local community. He emphasizes the need for government support in providing modern technology and market management to enhance agricultural productivity. If such support is realized, it could significantly boost the agricultural sector in Bhojpur, encouraging more residents to engage in farming and potentially transforming the local economy.
