Polk State College has announced the appointment of Dr. Kevin O’Farrell, a former leader at the Florida Department of Education, to a newly created executive position. Dr. O’Farrell joined the college as executive vice president of Workforce & Strategic
Initiatives on Monday. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing workforce development programs, apprenticeships, internships, and other strategic initiatives. Prior to this appointment, Dr. O’Farrell served as senior chancellor for Higher Education and Workforce Development at the Florida Department of Education. His extensive background also includes a tenure as chancellor of the Division of Career and Adult Education and eight years in academic leadership roles, including provost and campus president, at Pasco-Hernando State College. Polk State President Anastasios Kamoutsas emphasized that Dr. O’Farrell's experience across workforce development, the Florida State College system, and academic affairs will be invaluable for expanding the college's offerings.
