service to Beijing Daxing International Airport. This expansion marks one of the airline's largest into a single market in recent years. Daily flights to Shanghai will commence on October 1, 2026, followed by daily service to Guangzhou starting March 4, 2027. Additional weekly flights to Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Shenzhen will also be launched in March 2027. The total service to China will increase from six to 35 weekly flights, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The expansion is supported by Etihad's joint venture with China Eastern Airlines, enhancing coordinated services between China and the UAE.
Why It's Important?

This move positions Abu Dhabi as a key gateway between China and markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America. The increased capacity is expected to facilitate greater economic and cultural exchanges, benefiting both regions. The collaboration with China Eastern Airlines further enhances connectivity and service offerings, potentially boosting passenger traffic and fostering bilateral relations.
