What's Happening?
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, successfully recovered a Cesium-137 radioactive source in Midland County. The recovery operation was initiated after a DPS Corporal detected radiation
during routine patrol duties. The source, buried approximately 6 to 8 inches underground, was safely recovered without incident. The operation involved extensive radiological assessments and safety protocols to ensure public safety and prevent contamination.
