GCSTIMES has introduced the hospitality industry's first ISO 14068-certified low-carbon key card, aiming to transform the traditional plastic key card into a sustainable access tool. This initiative addresses the environmental impact of millions of plastic key cards
that end up in landfills annually, contributing to microplastic pollution. The new key card is made from sustainable materials such as FSC-certified wood, PLA, and plant-based leather, and is designed to reduce emissions significantly. The remaining emissions are offset through traceable Verra VCS carbon credits. The key card also provides quantifiable Scope 3 data for ESG reporting, enhancing guest loyalty and brand trust through its craftsmanship and custom design. Supported by five global operational centers, the key card ensures local, low-carbon delivery and has already been adopted by over 100,000 hotels across 141 countries.
