Joann McCambridge, a beloved educator and family matriarch, has passed away. Born on September 22, 1950, she dedicated her life to teaching and family. McCambridge graduated from Calumet High School in 1968 and earned a B.S. degree in Teaching from Chicago
State University in 1972. She taught at various schools, including D.S. Wentworth School in Chicago and several special needs institutions. Despite battling multiple sclerosis for 25 years, she continued teaching until her school closed in 2024. McCambridge was deeply involved in her sons' activities, serving as a soccer registrar, den mother, and band supporter. She married Ed McCambridge in 1974, and they shared a life filled with travel and family. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, she cherished the 2016 World Series victory and enjoyed annual trips to Milwaukee for Cubs games. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of her family and the many students she inspired.

Visitation is scheduled for June 21st at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, with a Mass on June 22nd at Divine Infant Jesus Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Hinsdale Humane Society or Mount Carmel High School. These gestures reflect McCambridge's lifelong commitment to education and community service. Her family and former students will continue to celebrate her memory and the values she embodied, ensuring her legacy endures.
