What's Happening?
The American Film Market (AFM) has received positive feedback for its new location at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, following a less favorable experience in Las Vegas last year. Despite the improved
venue, attendees have expressed concerns over the high prices of film packages, which do not align with current market realities. The event saw participation from 285 exhibitors across 35 countries, with significant representation from South Korea, Germany, the U.K., France, and Italy.
Why It's Important?
The AFM serves as a crucial platform for film sales and acquisitions, impacting the global film industry. The high prices of film packages could deter buyers, affecting the distribution and success of independent films. This situation highlights the need for the industry to adjust expectations and pricing strategies to align with market conditions, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
