What's Happening?
Spain is set to host a pilot program for the collection of used clothing, offering rewards to consumers as part of the European Union's TexMat project. Funded by the EU's Horizon Europe program, the initiative aims to promote sustainability and the circular
economy by encouraging the reuse of textiles. The project involves installing automated containers for clothing collection, which will assess the quality of items and provide financial incentives to participants. The pilot, led by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, includes partners from various EU countries and aims to develop new business models and technologies for textile waste management.
