What's Happening?
The Swedish Armed Forces have initiated a project to upgrade 58 Patria XA 203 vehicles as part of a mid-life enhancement plan. The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has been tasked with procuring
these enhancements from Patria, a Finnish defense company. The upgrades, which include readiness for a Remote Weapon Station, are set to begin in early 2026 at Patria’s facilities in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The Patria XA-203, known as Pasi, is primarily an armored personnel carrier designed for diverse terrains and crisis management operations. This initiative is part of a broader procurement strategy under the Finnish-led multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program, which includes participation from several European countries.
