Marcia A. Mathews, a respected nurse and educator, has passed away at the age of 93. Born in Springwater, Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Glenn and Margaret Stark. Marcia was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Daniel F. Mathews, Jr., and her son
Patrick Mathews, MD. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, as well as many close friends and relatives. Marcia had a distinguished career in nursing, having received her undergraduate degree from Nazareth College and working as a Registered Nurse at Crouse Memorial Hospital. She later taught nursing at both Crouse Memorial Hospital and Syracuse University. Marcia was also an accomplished athlete, winning several medals at the Empire State Senior Olympics for swimming. Her family expressed gratitude to the Upstate Community ICU for their care during her final days. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held, and she will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.
