Gabriella “GiGi” Searle, an Honors student at Washington State University (WSU) majoring in Genetics and Cell Biology, participated in a prestigious Fulbright Canada Mitacs Globalink Research Internship. During her summer in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Searle worked
in the laboratory of Dr. Benoit Laurent at the Université de Sherbrooke, focusing on Alzheimer's disease research. Her project specifically investigated how genetic risk factors associated with Alzheimer's might affect the development and function of the choroid plexus, a brain structure crucial for regulating and protecting the central nervous system.
