What's Happening?
Telegram's MTProto protocol is designed to ensure strong encryption and authentication between the Telegram client and its servers. The protocol is used in conjunction with MTProto proxies, such as Surge, which handle only the proxy transport layer and relay
the already encrypted MTProto payload. This setup does not decrypt message contents or weaken Telegram's protocol-level encryption. The MTProto proxy is specific to Telegram and offers advantages over general-purpose proxies like SOCKS5, particularly in avoiding certain bugs and ensuring reliable connections over IPv6. The protocol allows for dynamic endpoint selection, enhancing resilience and reducing the likelihood of connection issues.
