Rochester Airport Experiences Record Summer Passenger Traffic, Plans New Routes

The Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport reported its busiest summer in over 15 years, with 371,775 passengers flying out in June, July, and August. August alone saw the highest number of departing passengers since the 1990s. This surge in passenger numbers has prompted the introduction of new non-stop routes to destinations such as Raleigh/Durham, NC; Nashville, TN; Wilmington, NC; Lakeland, FL; and Charleston, SC. According to Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, additional non-stop services to Fort Myers and Sarasota, Florida, are planned for next year. The airport's director, Andy Moore, noted that increased passenger demand influences airlines' decisions on route allocations.
