Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, has announced plans to remove the 10 percent provision in Nepal's energy mix, aiming to mainstream renewable energy. During a meeting with the Renewable Energy Confederation Nepal (RECON), Ghising expressed commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive renewable energy system. The RECON delegation submitted a memorandum urging the implementation of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Act, 2080, and greater private sector representation in the Energy Regulatory Commission. The memo also suggested measures like net-metering, decentralized manufacturing, and tax exemptions to boost renewable energy projects and employment opportunities for Gen-Zs.
