What's Happening?
Six Saab F-39E Gripen aircraft from the Brazilian Air Force participated in the SALITRE 2026 exercise in Chile, marking the first time these aircraft have been involved in a multinational operation outside Brazil. The exercise involved air defense, escort,
and patrol missions, with the Gripens operating alongside 1,500 military personnel and 60 aircraft from countries including Chile, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, and Paraguay. The Brazilian Gripens utilized advanced systems such as the AESA radar and IRST sensor, completing over 50 sorties and accumulating more than 100 flight hours.
