A new report from the Stanford AI Index reveals that four out of five American high school and college students are currently using artificial intelligence (AI) for schoolwork. Despite this widespread adoption, only half of middle and high schools have
any AI policy in place. Furthermore, among teachers working in schools that do have policies, a mere 6% describe these policies as clear. Students are primarily using AI for tasks such as finding sources (51%), editing or revising essays (50%), and brainstorming (50%).
