What's Happening?
ComEd has expanded its STEM program, originally designed to encourage teenage girls' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math, to include boys. This expansion has doubled the program's size and impact. The initiative involves 60 students,
including eight from the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago, who are tasked with building and racing electric go-karts over a two-week period at Chicago's Fields Studio. Participants, aged 13 to 18, are divided into teams and will compete in a race on August 1. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship upon completion of the program. The program aims to provide practical knowledge and networking opportunities in a traditionally male-dominated field.
