What's Happening?
The Jammu Municipal Corporation is gearing up for the Census 2027, deploying over 1,200 enumerators to conduct the exercise in Jammu city. The self-enumeration window will open on May 17, allowing residents to submit their household details online. Dr.
Devansh Yadav, JMC Commissioner, emphasized the importance of the census in enhancing government welfare schemes and service delivery. The exercise, which is not linked to citizenship validation, aims to collect comprehensive data on the population and socio-economic conditions. The field exercise will run from June 1-30, with MLAs designated as 'census ambassadors' to promote participation.
