Volvo Trucks has launched a new stop/start engine technology for its I-Roll system, marking a first in the heavy-duty truck industry. This innovation aims to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by
up to one percent. The technology works by temporarily shutting off the engine during downward slopes, consuming zero fuel and producing no tailpipe emissions. Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management at Volvo Trucks, stated that this development is part of Volvo's decarbonization strategy, which focuses on making transport more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly.
