What's Happening?
Cinco’s Cantina, a family-owned Mexican restaurant with locations in Rochester, Dover, and Epping, successfully raised $5,000 for Gather, a nonprofit organization focused on combating food insecurity in the Seacoast
region. The fundraising campaign, which took place throughout October, included special menu items such as the San Jose Burrito, Cinnamon Apple Margarita, and The Gather Plate, with a portion of the proceeds from each dish going towards Gather's mission. Additional fundraising activities included the Guac Out Hunger Fiesta Fundraiser, online donation options, and a Give Back Gift Card Promotion. Despite falling slightly short of the initial goal, Cinco’s Cantina made up the difference to ensure the full target was met, with $476 coming directly from guest donations.
Why It's Important?
The efforts by Cinco’s Cantina highlight the significant role local businesses can play in addressing community issues such as food insecurity. By engaging customers through special menu items and fundraising events, the restaurant not only raised substantial funds but also increased awareness about the prevalence of food insecurity in the region. This initiative demonstrates how community-focused business practices can contribute to social causes, potentially inspiring other local businesses to adopt similar strategies. The funds raised will support Gather's ongoing efforts to provide food assistance to those in need, thereby helping to alleviate hunger in the Seacoast area.
What's Next?
Cinco’s Cantina plans to continue supporting local causes through its Fiesta Fundraiser program and other community initiatives throughout the year. The restaurant's commitment to social responsibility is expected to foster stronger community ties and encourage further participation in charitable activities. As Cinco’s Cantina maintains its engagement with Gather and other local nonprofits, it may explore additional fundraising opportunities and partnerships to expand its impact on food insecurity and other community challenges.
