What's Happening?
Marshfield Medical Center and Marshfield Medical Center-Weston have been named Best Hospitals for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report for 2026. These hospitals are the only ones in central Wisconsin
to receive this recognition. U.S. News evaluated over 900 hospitals providing labor and delivery services, with 495 making the final list. The evaluation considered factors such as C-section rates, newborn severe complication rates, and best practices for supporting breast milk feeding. The two hospitals have delivered over 1,200 babies in 2025, with Marshfield Medical Center delivering more than 900 and Marshfield Medical Center-Weston delivering 335. Dr. Brian Hoerneman, CEO and president of the Marshfield Clinic region of Sanford Health, expressed pride in the recognition, highlighting the safe and welcoming environment provided for families.
Why It's Important?
The recognition of Marshfield Clinic hospitals as top maternity care providers underscores the importance of quality healthcare services in maternal and child health. This accolade not only enhances the reputation of the hospitals but also assures expectant families of the high standard of care they can expect. As healthcare quality becomes a critical factor for patients when choosing medical facilities, such recognitions can influence patient decisions and drive healthcare providers to maintain and improve their standards. This focus on quality care is essential for improving health outcomes and reducing disparities in maternal and child health.
