What's Happening?
In 2023, Hoboken, New Jersey, inaugurated a 5.4-acre park on a former industrial site, designed to hold up to 2 million gallons of stormwater. Known as ResilienCity Park, it is the largest resiliency park in the state, featuring playgrounds, lawns, and
a flood-control system that combines above-ground features with underground storage. The park aims to mitigate flash flooding in low-lying areas of Hoboken, which are prone to flooding during heavy rain. The project was funded by federal, state, and county sources, including a $10 million grant from FEMA.
