BAE Systems has introduced its new Shadow EW™ family of compact electronic warfare (EW) solutions, specifically designed for small airborne platforms. These solutions aim to provide critical situational awareness and self-defense capabilities, enhancing

The Shadow EW systems are characterized by their cost-effectiveness, low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) electronics, and ability to be produced in high quantities. According to Rebecca Cruz, Director of Shadow EW products at BAE Systems, the modern battlefield demands adaptable electronic warfare capabilities for all platforms, regardless of size. The Shadow EW solutions offer flexible, configurable hardware paired with iterative software updates to counter rapidly evolving threats. Production of these systems will occur at BAE Systems' facilities in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with software and design work handled in Nashua, New Hampshire. The company emphasizes the use of commercial microchips for high-performance computing and supply chain efficiency, enabling accelerated production and delivery.
