What's Happening?
The 2026 Robert A. Clifford Scholar-in-Residence program will feature Professor Richard Loren Jolly from Southwestern Law School. Scheduled for April 16, 2026, Jolly will present a lecture titled 'The Democratic Virtues of the Civil Jury.' His presentation
will explore the role of the civil jury as a democratic institution, especially at a time when other democratic institutions are perceived to be weakening. Jolly's work focuses on civil justice, emphasizing the importance of lay participation in judicial decision-making through juries. The event will be held at the DePaul Conference Center in Chicago and will offer 1.25 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit. Registration is free and required by April 15, with lunch provided for in-person attendees.
