What's Happening?
Fairfield County residents are being given an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed Grid Growth 765-kilovolt Transmission Line Project. This project, developed by Grid Growth Ventures (a joint venture of Transource Energy LLC and FirstEnergy
Transmission LLC), aims to strengthen Ohio's electric grid by adding approximately 220 miles of new transmission infrastructure. Public open houses are being held across the state to gather input from residents, landowners, and local officials. The project involves two new 765-kilovolt transmission lines in an eastern segment through Pickaway, Fairfield, Coshocton, Muskingum, and Guernsey counties, and a western segment with two new 765-kilovolt lines and one 345-kilovolt double-circuit line crossing Darke, Shelby, Miami, Champaign, Clark, Madison, Union, and Franklin counties. Developers state the project is intended to improve reliability, increase transmission capacity, and support rising electricity demand.

The regional grid operator, PJM Interconnection, selected Grid Growth for this project in February, forecasting nearly 4,800 megawatts of additional electricity demand across the region by 2032, underscoring the urgency and necessity of these infrastructure upgrades.
