The Institut Kôrè des arts et métiers (IKAM) in Ségou, Mali, has launched a new Master's program in Cultural Heritage and Innovation. This initiative expands the institute's educational offerings, which previously focused on cultural management. The inaugural
conference for this new program took place in Bamako, gathering twenty participants from various African regions. The program aims to address the challenges, opportunities, and perspectives of African cultural heritage in the era of innovation and artificial intelligence. Founded in September 2013 by cultural producer Mamou Daffé, who is now Mali's Minister of Handicrafts, Culture, Hotel Industry, and Tourism, IKAM has trained cultural professionals from sixteen African countries. The institute operates on an entrepreneurial model inspired by West African social and solidarity values, known as 'Maaya.' This new master's program signifies a strategic shift towards specializing in heritage issues and their integration with emerging technologies.
