A recent study using eye-tracking technology has ranked Kirkjufell, located on Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula, as one of the world's most visually captivating mountain landscapes. The study involved 100
participants who viewed images of various landscapes, with eye-tracking software measuring the time to first fixation and total viewing duration. Kirkjufell received an 'eye-catching' score of 68.6, placing it ninth globally. The Canadian Rockies topped the list with a score of 99.3, followed by El Capitan in the United States and Torres del Paine in Chile. The study highlights the unique visual appeal of Iceland's mountains, shaped by volcanic activity, glaciation, and coastal erosion.
