Dutch offshore services provider Boskalis is utilizing its heavy transport vessel, Blue Marlin, to transport a converted floating production unit (FPU) to Angola for deployment in Congo's first natural gas liquefaction project. The FPU, originally a semi-submersible drilling rig, has been converted to serve as a floating gas treatment facility. Despite its size, the FPU is securely positioned on the Blue Marlin's deck. The unit, identified as Saipem's Scarabeo 5, will function as a control hub for Eni's Congo LNG Project, facilitating the processing and transfer of gas to the Nguya floating liquefied natural gas unit.
