What's Happening?
Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV) in Palampur has concluded its fifth long-duration training course for Indian Defence personnel. The course, titled 'Protected Cultivation and Value Addition of Vegetables and Horticultural
Crops,' saw participation from 38 defence personnel across the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The training aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills in agriculture. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda, emphasized the potential of these skills in generating sustainable livelihoods and strengthening the agricultural economy.
Why It's Important?
This training initiative highlights the growing recognition of agriculture as a viable career path for defence personnel transitioning to civilian life. By equipping them with skills in protected cultivation and value addition, the program supports the broader goal of enhancing self-employment opportunities and economic resilience in the agricultural sector. Such programs can play a crucial role in diversifying the skill sets of defence personnel, enabling them to contribute to the agricultural economy and promoting sustainable farming practices. This approach not only benefits the individuals involved but also supports national efforts towards agricultural innovation and sustainability.
