What's Happening?
Artec, a joint venture between KNDS and Rheinmetall, is set to significantly increase the production of its Boxer armored vehicles, aiming to produce around 1,000 units by 2030. This decision was announced at the International Armoured Vehicles (IAV)
2026 conference in Farnborough. The expansion involves enhancing existing production facilities and establishing new capabilities across Europe. Currently, there are five Boxer production sites in Europe, and the supply chain is being expanded with additional suppliers. Artec has already delivered or is in the process of building over 2,100 Boxers in 28 different versions for seven countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Qatar. The vehicles are designed to be interoperable, with a common drive module that can be replaced in 40 minutes, providing flexibility and reducing operational costs.
