Kiley Prep, a middle school in Springfield, Massachusetts, is set to become the first public school in the state to pilot an artificial intelligence-powered education model developed by Alpha School. This
for-profit company claims its AI model helps students learn faster than traditional methods. The pilot program is scheduled to commence this fall in a single sixth-grade class, with potential for expansion to additional classrooms. The Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership (SEZP), which oversees Kiley Prep, has the authority to make operational decisions for its schools and has notified the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education about the partnership, though departmental approval is not required.
