The Duneland YMCA is set to open a music room named after Ty Balon, a young man who used music as a form of expression and comfort throughout his life. Diagnosed with epilepsy at 11, Balon passed away
at 25 after a seizure. His mother, Crystal Soliday, has collaborated with the YMCA to create the Ty Balon Creative Exchange + Sound Studio, a space for youth to gather and make music. The facility will include a recording studio, computers, and a stage, providing a sanctuary for kids to explore their creativity. The project aims to open next year, offering a place for community engagement and artistic development.
