What's Happening?
Grand Lake has launched new deed-restricted housing units aimed at supporting local workers and employers. Two one-bedroom units at Portal Crossing are now available for purchase at $310,000 each, with four more units expected to be completed in early
2026. The Local Employee Residency Program allows qualifying local employees, retirees, and business owners to purchase these units, ensuring they remain dedicated to workforce housing over the long term. This initiative is part of the town's efforts to strengthen its workforce and bolster local economic stability.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of deed-restricted housing in Grand Lake addresses the critical issue of affordable housing for local workers. By ensuring that these units remain available for the workforce, the town aims to retain and attract employees, which is essential for sustaining local businesses and the economy. This initiative not only provides stability for workers but also supports the broader community by fostering economic growth and reducing the risk of workforce shortages. The program reflects a proactive approach to addressing housing challenges in small communities.
