Alena Sadie Malanie Hill Sherlaw, a centenarian from East Ryegate, Vermont, passed away at the age of 101. Born in 1925, she spent most of her life in Newport and Newport Center, where she was known for her dedication to community service and her skills
in crocheting and sewing. Alena worked in manufacturing and was a lifelong member of the Forever Young Club. She was particularly recognized for her contributions to the RSVP program, where she dressed stuffed bears for children as Christmas gifts. Alena is survived by her three daughters, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her family expressed gratitude to the staff at Union House Nursing Home for their care.
