Voorhees University has received a federal grant of $1,188,800 from the U.S. Department of Labor to establish an Artificial Intelligence Institute of Technology and Research Center (AIITRC). This significant funding will facilitate the transformation
of Bedford Hall into a modern hub dedicated to AI education, workforce training, research, and community engagement. The AIITRC aims to integrate AI skills across various academic programs, expand undergraduate research opportunities in artificial intelligence, and prepare students for AI-related careers in industry, government, and education. Additionally, the center will offer workforce training and community programming for residents and organizations in Denmark, Bamberg, and surrounding rural communities in South Carolina. The performance period for this grant runs from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2031.
