What's Happening?
The Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV) has become a member of the Deep Sea Conservation Coalition (DSCC), an organization established in 2004 to combat the detrimental effects of bottom trawling on the high seas. The DSCC collaborates with scientists,
non-governmental organizations, intergovernmental bodies, and various governments to address the lack of effective management of deep-sea fisheries. The coalition's primary objectives are to significantly reduce threats to deep-sea life and to ensure the long-term health and resilience of deep-sea ecosystems. Currently, over 70 organizations globally are part of the DSCC, working to protect cold-water corals and vulnerable ecosystems.
