What's Happening?
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is set to conduct emphasis patrols from August 14 to August 16 near Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman. This initiative aims to address traffic safety as students and families return to campus after the summer
break. The patrols will focus on speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving, which are significant contributors to serious and fatal crashes in the state. The WSP has reported that District 6 has already investigated 12 fatal collisions this year. The increased patrol presence will be noticeable along State Route 26, Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass, and through Ellensburg and Grant County. The primary goal of these patrols is to ensure the safe arrival of students and families back to school.
