The town of Reading in Berkshire is set to celebrate its historical connections with the Camino de Santiago, a famous pilgrimage route to north-west Spain. Reading serves as the starting point for the English leg of the Camino, known as St James' Way,
which stretches 68.5 miles from the Reading Abbey ruins to Southampton. The celebration, titled 'Walk the Spanish Way Fair,' is scheduled for April 25 and aims to bring the experience of the Spanish pilgrimage closer to home. The event will feature traditional music, exhibitions, Galician food, and audiovisual content about the Camino walk. It is organized by the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Turismo de Galicia, and the Spanish Embassy in London, with support from Reading's Economy & Destination Agency.
